Getting to Know Dr. McCormick!

Dr. McCormick joined our Newberry location in 2022, and we are so happy she did! In just a few short months with us, Dr. McCormick has touched the lives of countless pets in the Newberry area and has blessed the rest of our staff with her knowledge of fear-free techniques (did you know she is fear-free certified?). We are so very grateful to have Dr. McCormick with us, and were eager to sit down with her between appointments to learn more about why she became a veterinarian:

What is your earliest memory of a pet in your life?

My earliest memory of a pet was in 2004 when my parents surprised my sisters and I

with a photo of a 6 week old German shorthaired pointer and dog collar on Christmas morning. A few weeks later we picked that puppy up from the airport! Our dog Roxy was our family pet for 16 years and gave birth to 10 beautiful puppies which inspired me to become a veterinarian.

Is there something about you that most people do not know, but would be surprised to hear?

My favorite condiment is hot sauce and I pretty much eat it on everything! In elementary school my parents had to write a note to the school so they would not confiscate my hot sauce from me at lunch time.

If you could go back and have five minutes with your ‘younger self’, how would you use that time, or what would you say?

If I could spend five minutes with my younger self I would tell myself to live in the present and not stress or have anxiety about the future because things will work out the way they are suppose too. Also a warning that you will be in school until your 26 so enjoy all the free time you have now!

How do you want the world to be different because YOU lived in it?

I want to leave a positive impact on the world and those around me through the way I treat others. I hope that my clients, friends and family feel uplifted after interacting with me. A part of veterinary medicine that I love is that by taking care of their family pets I can have a positive impact on their owners because our pets bring us so much joy!

When you find yourself with a sudden amount of free time unexpectedly, how do

you spend it?

Probably taking a nap with my dogs!

Thank you for your interview! We always end it with a favorite quote. What is

yours?

Psalm 46:5 - “God is within her, she will not fail”

“Be kind like Carson,” In memory of a sweet friend who passed away.
